Meet Dr Sonya Jessup
Fertility Specialist, Gynaecologist, Laparoscopic Surgeon
“After the initial consultation, patients often tell me they’ve learned more in one hour about their fertility than through all their Googling and other experiences combined. They understand what’s ahead now, with a clear vision of how to achieve their goal.”
Dr Sonya Jessup
I pride myself on doing everything I can to make my patients feel at home — through a balance of energy, unwavering dedication, and complete compassion. All in a relaxed, comfortable environment that I like to call ‘the happy place’. Because that’s where my patients soon find themselves — not just physically, but mentally and emotionally.
I completed my undergrad training at the Royal Women’s Hospital in Melbourne, then furthered my studies as a Fellow in Reproductive Medicine and Endocrinology for 3 years, achieving a Masters of Reproductive Medicine from UNSW. I’m now a Fellow of the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists (FRANZCOG).
My subspecialty training focused on advanced laparoscopic surgery and general gynaecological surgery. Which means I don’t just manage IVF cycles, I can also help women with any of their issues, and address every aspect of them, even any operations.
Driven by my commitment to stay at the forefront of my field, I’ve attended courses with the European Society of Cosmetic Gynaecology ESAG in Harley St, London, and the International Cosmetic Gynaecology Conference (ICGC) in Dubai, UAE. This extra training has allowed me to expand my expertise and provide even more comprehensive care.
I’ve personally managed thousands of IVF cycles at both corporate-level and small clinics. I currently practise at my Elsa Gynaecology Clinic in Miranda, and Shire IVF. Recognising the uniqueness of the IVF journey, I place a great importance on treating each of my patients as an individual, through personalised care, and close attention to their specific goals.
I firmly believe that the initial consultation is a crucial step, because it allows for an intimate safe-space chat, and a very tailored approach.
